Living Vicariously & the Trauma that Binds Series
We all do it in some form or another. Watch a movie or show and imagine being there; the same while reading a book. Talking with people about their lives and pursuit of their dreams. We all like to live vicariously through whatever means we can. A way to escape our own reality. Even if its just for a little while. With the power of the spoken and written word, we have been living vicariously through them for centuries. In this podcast, you’ll hear stories about every sort of topic. To provide some of our entertainment, a local up and coming writer Remington James, will provide short stories and anecdotes for your amusement. We also provide a platform that allows trauma survivors to speak out, raise awareness, and advocate for those in similar situations. We want you to know that you are not alone and that help is out there. Our hope is by sharing these stories and experiences it not only helps you the listener but the trauma survivor themselves in a cathartic way. If you appreciate what we do and would like to support the studio, please consider purchasing a Tshirt or Sweater, book one of our other services, or simply donate to the studio. Donations are not necessary but are greatly appreciated as it will provide the means to be able to continue to provide our listeners with the content they enjoy more frequently. Thank you all for your continued support. Sincerely, T. Douglas - Proprietor of Red Script Studios

Hello podcast nation and welcome back to another episode of the Trauma that Binds Series, a segment of Living Vicariously. Today we have the privilege of having Valerie Rubin with us. With a BA in psychology and licensed Rapid Transformational Therapist, Valerie has helped dozens overcome their traumas.
" We are all human and struggle with so many different things.
Fight: Anger Response
Flight: Anxiety or OCD like response
Freeze: Depression symptoms, feeling really sad
Fawn: People pleasing, codependent
We start to merge with these thoughts and believe them as truth.
A lot of my clients struggle with people pleasing, codependency, seeking validation or self abandoning.
I'm a huge proponent of exercise, eating in a way that nourishes the body, and surrounding yourself with the right people.
WE CAN'T CHANGE THROUGH SHAME, WE CAN ONLY CHANGE THROUGH LOVE."
- Valerie Rubin
"You have to let go so it doesn't hurt you anymore, right?" - T. Douglas

"If the rock doesn't exist for you, then fine, ya know?
I keep leaning towards the connections are what's needed because without those connections, we're not really understanding the world around us very well, and we are also not understanding ourselves.
There was somedays I just didn't want to get up.
I think what's important and what I've learned and one of the reasons I wanted to come on this podcast, being, I haven't shared a whole lot openly about my circumstances or what I went through.
Please don't give up, please just tell yourself one more day. I've had to do that several times, and as shitty as one day is, we don't have to relive that day. We already have Monday and fuck Monday, we're done now; we are onto Tuesday. Each new day brings a chance for some sort of hope, some sort of change, just something."

Jocelyn has been working with people for over 25 years. With a holistic approach she really gets down deep to the root of your entire life and can help provide a path to truly understanding one self.
Jocelyn unfortunately went through a domestically violent relationship at a young age and had lost both her parents through the COVID pandemic. In this episode Jocelyn shares with us her experience both personally and professionally with trauma and how she was able to heal and keep coping with life.
"He would, yea, hurt me but also hurt himself, and I would watch, and then he would say things like 'this is what you do to people!'" -JB
"But as a 15 year old girl, I took that in, in a way that I had to decondition myself from that for many years." - JB
"It's typical with domestic violence is 7 times. The woman goes back 7 times. That's like an average number for women who go back into domestic violence." - JB
"I had no closure because I was kept away."-JB
They kicked me and my dad out before she died; even though it was 20min later. They wouldn't let us stay. There was so much craziness that went on during that time."- JB
A lot of my family now dislikes me because they think I killed him."- JB

Aftermath of Addiction with Mike Jarrell
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Mike Jarrell is a life a coach and mentor. However, he wasn't always that way. Coming from an extremely abusive home, Mike found comfort in hard-core drugs such as meth and heroin. He got clean and joined the army to get away from his abusive home. Coming home from Bosnia was hard on Mike and he eventually turned back to drugs to forget about his experiences in the military. In a last ditch effort to try and turn things around, Mike found solace in CBT therapy. Doesn't mean there wasn't relapse along the way but Mike has fought through his traumas and healed himself so he can help heal others. You can find Mike on Facebook under himself, his group Deacons Legacy, and TikTok. Mike also is an author and has 3 books on Amazon and hopefully soon Audible as I will be narrating and producing audiobook versions for his books! Mike also has a website https://deaconslegacy.site

"Your kids see it, they know it, they feel it, you can't hide nothing from them, they're always watching. It will definitely influence them and they will have issues from it.
If you're not taking care of yourself, you're not taking care of your kids.
Just to see what those people were doing to each other was absolutely like something out of a horror movie. I came home messed up, really messed up.
We have 24hrs, the same 24hrs everyone else does, what are you going to do with it?
The steps you take today can create a better future." - Mike Jarrell

Behind the Rocks with Maria Palmer
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Maria had a simple life growing up in the family restaurant. That was until a fate filled day sent the FBI knocking on her door. Maria Palmer is Best Selling author of On the Rocks: The Primadonna Story and daughter of the famous restaurateur Joe Costanzo Jr. Moreover, Maria is a very lovely and remarkable woman and I am grateful and happy to know her! Join Maria and I as we discuss her book and her life behind the rocks of the Primadonna, the most notorious restaurant in Pittsburgh. As a bonus, Maria has offered for me to speak with her Father Joe, so stay tuned for part 2 of Behind the Rocks featuring Joe Costanzo Jr! Find Maria on Facebook, Amazon, and her website www.mariacpalmer.com. https://a.co/d/dUett77
"On the Rocks was born out of a family history project that Maria felt had commercial appeal. The book’s subject, Joseph Costanzo, Jr., former owner and operator of The Primadonna Restaurant, is a well-known personality in the restaurant world. He was one of the most decorated restaurateurs in the United States, winning multiple awards both locally and nationally. He hosted a radio show called “Fine Dining in Pittsburgh and Around the World” and wrote a weekly newspaper column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about food and the local restaurant scene. At the height of his success, he ran for Commissioner of Allegheny County, a county encompassing the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding suburbs, with a population of 1.3 million people." - mariacpalmer.com
"I always tell this to people not because I'm tooting my own horn, but because I'm trying to let people know that sometimes the limitations that others put on us, are just that. You have to be your own yes." - Maria
"You gotta bring that type of passion. If you don't have it, you're doing the wrong thing. You need to find what it is that is your purpose here in this life. If we never put anything into the world, nothing will come out of it." - Maria

The Trauma that Binds Series: Delving into Dan Gindlesperger
Wednesday May 15, 2024
Wednesday May 15, 2024
Firstly, Dan apologies for the vulgarness of his birds. They're very opinionated and try to cut into the conversation. They have been chirped out as best as possible.
Now, let me introduce Dan Gindlesperger, author of the Demon Secret. Dan is a huge horror fan following in the footsteps of Clive Baker. To which Dan thinks is the best horror writer out there. Better than Stephen King in his opinion.
"Clive Baker makes horror what it should be, disturbing." - Dan G
When getting to know each other we found out that Dan and I are huge fans of Craig Alanson and RC Bray. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we are apart of the same Facebook fan groups for Craig Alanson and his Exforce Series.
"When you have Craig Alanson working with RC Bray, it's magical!" - Dan G
"RC Bray is one of my inspirations for narrating audiobooks." - Tim D
Dan also believes that anyone and everyone should be able to read his work. Dan also provides his work at low cost so that people can enjoy his work. Just because I had connected and loved the Demon Secret, Dan sent me a copy of the book so I could keep reading it. That just goes to show how much Dan cares about other people and his work at the same time.
"I think my teenage daughters should be able to read what I write." - Dan G
Dan also went through a toxic and traumatic childhood. It wasn't until Dan was sent to a therapist for an unrelated reason that things started to change for him. Originally sent to talk about pain management, ended up being the start of breaking the trauma that bound to him. Growing up in the era of men don't talk about problems or show emotion also played a huge factor in his recovery. Until Dan went through a session himself, he couldn't understand why grown men were coming out blubbering. A week later, he was that man.
"I cried because I was understanding the pain I went through that I kept in my subconscious; that I always hid away." - Dan G
Dan is an amazing, humble, and now a well rounded individual. Dan is also too kind with his words of positive praise towards me and the work I do, and the Podcast itself.
"As I said when we first started this, what you're doing is important. There isn't enough of it!" - Dan G
For more information on Dan, find him on Facebook, Amazon, his website, and soon enough Audible for a wonderfully narrated version of the Demon Secret.

The Trauma that Binds Series: Dante's Requiem
Wednesday May 08, 2024
Wednesday May 08, 2024
Allow me the pleasure of introducing the one, the only, the man, the myth, the Hollywood legend and my personal friend Dante Rusciolelli! Dante has been a comedian for over 37 years and has worked with all the best such as Richard Pryor. He has appeared on over 40 TV shows including but not limited to: BET's ComicView, NBC's Last Comic Standing, and his own Sitcom. Dante was also a writer for Joan Rivers on the show Fashion Police. To view or book Dante for an event go to www.comicdante.com for more information.
Dante is also a talent manager who owns Golden Artists Entertainment in Los Angeles. Visit www.goldenartistsentertainment.com to see some of the biggest actors, comedians, and influencers that Dante represents.
Dante has also been struck by copious amounts of trauma and grief. Losing his entire family within the last 12 years, witnessing a stabbing in 11th grade, witnessing his friend being shot due to a gang initiation. That is but just some of the incredible yet tragic stories he has shared with me and all of us in this episode. Dante is working on publishing a memoir about his life, and hopes it will be ready soon. Follow Dante on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter for updates on upcoming comedy tours, webinars, productions and his memoir in progress.
"They only taught two words, but those two words were worth every dollar. So what, so what, so what. We are all going to be gone soon; enjoy it while you're here and be good to those that are with you, and if they go, they're going to know you loved them." - Dante
"And its like, no, you can't even use all those bananas!" - Dante
"You should appreciate you, everyone needs to realize their own value."- Dante
"Love, Health, Happiness, Safety, and Freedom I believe are the keys to life." - Dante
"It actually inspired me to kind of want to get together with other men and woman or whatever, in maybe some sort of support group. Just talk, because it did help, it helped talking to you." - Dante

Let me introduce to you the one and only Scott Stewart! We've had a couple of reschedules but finally going to get at it! Scott was raised in a household with neither the tools nor the support to overcome hardship positioned Scott for early failure.
Despite the poor start, he not only overcame the hand he was dealt, but through years of hard work, he transcended it, rewiring his entire belief system to live a rich and empowered life. As a result, Scott is perfectly positioned to assist others in overcoming comparable obstacles and establishing their own power!
"Somebody has to be there to come along side other people and go 'Hey, it's okay'" - Scott Stewart
"It's okay to cut people out of your life who are keeping you from peace and the ability to forgive" - Scott Stewart
"Trauma is trauma, it can't be compared" - Tim Douglas
" An inaccurate or unhealthy belief will stop us." - Scott Stewart
If you'd like to follow Scott or learn more about the process of overcoming life's most horrible events, you can find him on Linkedin or on Facebook as: Scott Stewart, Encourager, Speaker, Overcomer, and Coach. You can also find Scott on his website at www.scottstewartspeaking.com.

Summary:
She is a stunning, confident and successful Internet executive who has just inherited a boatload of money. But beneath her charming persona she's a chain-smoking, self-diagnosed sociopath who lives in a bizarre moral framework of her own creation - a deadly serial killer who has a taste for executives and anyone else she thinks is "unjust". Beginning just after the death of her ex-lover, this unrepentant killer explains how she copes with her personality disorder, when and how she began killing, her relationships with those around her, and her views on the Internet, social work, art and politics. Both empathetic and abhorrent, this murderous memoir reveals the best and worst of what to her appears to be an increasingly thoughtless, shallow world. Between what she claims is her final murder and her actual final murder nearly two years later, she chronicles in detail her bloodlust, her short-lived psychotic breaks, her persistent desire to disappear and her enthusiasm for the hunt and murder of her ever-growing log of victims. She's a beautiful chameleon - and she believes she is going to get away with it all.
R.K. Finch is a local author who brought to my attention her book is being plagiarized. Please support R.K. Finch by purchasing the true and original work. Thank you in advance for your support!
Summary:
Father Luke, a trained exorcist, uncovers sacred knowledge hidden in time while removing demons from the innocent. These truths put his own life and the lives of those he cares about in grave danger from every direction. Based near Washington, DC, where greed and deception are around every corner, lie these dangerous secrets, ones that threaten the very fabric of our human world.
Summary:
Theirs was an unlikely life together. Sheila gave birth to Josephine on 11th May 1993 and for twenty-three years they co-existed in a loving mother-daughter relationship, but one with a difference. Josephine suffered catastrophic brain injury at birth, never spoke to Sheila, rarely smiled and was barely able to see the faces of the people who loved her. Without a how-to guide, people around Josephine strove to make her life better through years of multiple medical procedures, tortuous therapies and uncomfortable equipment. But this isn't a misery memoir; it's the story of a person who touched the lives of so many people - a bright and beautiful young lady who could 'work the room'. despite her enormous limitations. She brought out the best in people. Expect to cry, expect to laugh, but don't expect to be indifferent to this story.
